Division of Forestry firefighters are making good progress on controlling two wildland fires that ignited in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley over the weekend.
A dozer line was completed at approximately 8 pm last evening around the 52 acre Horseshoe Lake Fire. Forestry and Borough fire fighters continue to fight the fire that ignited Sunday afternoon.
The dozer line around the Horseshoe Lake Fire was nearly tied in as of 7 pm Sunday, according to Alaska Forestry's Norm McDonald. Several firefighters will be released tonight when the fireline is in place, McDonald said.
As of July 1 Solid Waste Rates are increasing. See the attached fliers for details.
