MSB Interim Materials District - Susitna Parkway

An application for an Interim Materials District (IMD) under MSB 17.28 has been submitted by the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Land and Resource Management Division for the extraction of 1,800,000 cubic yards of material, over four years, within a 60 acre site.  

 

Location:  

The Proposed IMD is located in the vicinity of South Big Lake; MSB Parcel # 16N04W06D001; within Township 16, Range 4 West, Section 6, Seward Meridian; on West Susitna Parkway.

Current Status:  

The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing regarding the application on Monday, December 5, 2011 and recommended approval of an Interim Materials District designation for the site, with conditions. On January 23, 2012 the Planning Commission reaffirmed their recommendation and modified two of the conditions based on additional information from the applicant. A public hearing was held on February 7, 2012 at the Regular Assembly Meeting. The Assembly postponed action until March 6, 2012, then April 3, 2012 and it is now on the May 1, 2012 meeting agenda.

QAP Interim Materials District - Mile 81.8

An application for an Interim Materials District (IMD) under MSB 17.28, has been submitted by Colaska, Inc.  dba QAP, for the extraction of 500,000 cubic yards of material, over 40 years, within a 55 acre site.

Location:

The proposed IMD is located at Mile 81.8 Parks Highway; MSB Parcel#:  21N04W19A001; 67541 S. Parks Highway; within Township 21 North, Range 4 West, Section 19, Seward Meridian.

Applicant:

Colaska, Inc. dba Quality Asphalt (QAP)
