Matanuska-Susitna Borough

S. Trunk Road Roundabout work  will be re-starting on Tuesday, May 17, and will continue until mid-July.  Most work will be performed during the 7pm – 5am night shift.  The intersection will have flaggers and possible delays up to 20 minute.  Additional work to complete is concrete sidewalks, curbs, the middle island fill, signage, another lift of pavement and final strips.  Please call the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Capital Projects Road Hotline, 861-7623, for any questions or concerns about the S. Trunk Road Roundabout.

If you have insurance coverage, check with your insurance company to determine whether debris removal is covered. If covered, you may hire a contractor with a dump truck and an excavator to remove debris.

Fire debris can be hauled to the Willow Transfer Site. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough will waive fees for fire debris. For loads larger than a pickup, haul the debris to the Central Landfill near Palmer.

On many properties, metal is the bulk of the remaining debris. Two businesses have offered clean up assistance and scrap metal removal at no charge, AK Car Crushing and Recycling at 357-5865 and Schnitzer 349-4833.

Private fire debris should not be dumped in the road right of way. Please haul the debris to the Willow Transfer Station or the Central Landfill.
