| ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE? |
You must be registered to vote with the state of Alaska at least 30 calendar days prior to any Borough election or your vote in that election will not be counted. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough regular election will be Tuesday, October 5, 2010. The LAST DAY TO REGISTER to vote in this election is Sunday, September 5, 2010.
You may register by completing the state of Alaska Voter Registration Application at the clerk’s office in Houston, Palmer, Wasilla, the Borough, the Division of Elections (located in Wasilla), or with any of the many registrars throughout the State. Forms may be faxed to the Borough Clerk's Office at 745-9845 or the Division of Elections at 373-8953.
If you are registered to vote in state elections within the Borough, you are also registered to vote in local elections. Your registration remains active as long as you remain a resident of Alaska in good standing.
You must re-register with the state of Alaska if you change your name or residence address.
A person may vote in a borough election only if the person:

is qualified to vote in state elections under AS 15.05;
-
has been a resident of the borough and the precinct in which the person seeks to vote at least 30 calendar days immediately preceding the election;

is registered to vote in state elections in the precinct in which that person seeks to vote in borough elections at least 30 calendar days prior to the borough election; and
-
is not disqualified to vote under Article V of the Alaska State Constitution. (MSB 25.10.010)

Absentee in-person voting
Prior to the October 5, 2010, regular Borough election, you may vote early absentee in-person at the Borough Clerk's Office, September 20 - October 5 (during business hours) at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer, and at the Division of Elections, September 20 - October 4, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed Sundays), at 1700 E. Bogard Road (North Fork Professional Building), Building B, Suite 102, Wasilla.
Early absentee in-person ballots will also be available during this two-week period at the following locations during business hours: city of Wasilla, city of Houston, city of Palmer, Talkeetna Public Library, and Trapper Creek Public Library. (These locations will only have the ballots that pertain to that particular voting area.)

Poll voting on Election Day
Borough residents may vote at their designated polling location on election day. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. (See polling place and precinct maps link below)

Special Needs Voting
A voter who cannot vote in person due to age, illness, or disability, may vote a special needs ballot by designating a personal representative to retrieve all ballot instructions and voting materials from an election official.
