Changes to federal floodplain maps for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough are not final yet, but drafts show that at least preliminarily, many more homes here will be moving out of the floodplain than into it.
Our water system in Talkeetna recently violated drinking water standards. Our permit requires no more than 10 ug/L or 10 micrograms of arsenic per liter. In Dec., our system tested at 14.8 ug/L and in January it tested at 13 ug/L. A pump failed.

The South Beaver Road Personal Use Gravel Area is currently open. Permits for calendar year 2016 will be sold starting January 4, 2016.
