 Natural Resource Management Units Plan Summary to Public Comments

The summary to public comments for the December 2009 draft Natural Resource Management Units Plan (NRMU) is now available on the borough’s web site at: ww1.matsugov.us/communitydevelopment/. Click on Land Management then Asset Management Plans in the left navigation menu then click on the link: Natural Resource Management Units Plan.

In addition to the comment summary you will find a summary of the NRMU plan for quick reference.

The NRMU Plan is now proposed to be introduced to the borough assembly on September 7, 2010.

MSB006499     Public Use Easement

The Community Development Department received a request from Department of Public Works to dedicate a public use easement on Tract B, Deneki Meadows for the Willow Creek Bridge replacement project.   The project requires removal and disposal of the existing bridge structures and construction of a replacement bridge. The replacement bridge will be constructed as close as possible to the existing bridge alignment and location. Tract B is borough-owned land and dedicated on the plat to the public for recreational purposes.  A map and the file is available for review in the Land and Resource Management Division, Monday through Friday, from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB), Land Management Division, has received a request from PacArctic Logistics, LLC, to lease land in the Point (Port) MacKenzie area to start and operate a marine terminal and transportation terminal.

The proposed lease area is for warehouse construction and yard. Proposed Phase 1 includes 5 acres, more or less, as shown on the attached map. PacArctic Logistics, LLC, is requesting preference to lease the other 45 acres in the 50-acre parcel shown.

Supporting material is available for public inspection during normal business hours on the 2nd floor of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough building in the Land Management Division. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB), Land Management Division, has received a request from Dobson Cellular of Alaska, LLC, to place a 100-foot lattice tower on MSB property, Tax ID 54595000L001. The project will consist of the tower and cabinet site. Operation and maintenance leasehold size is 20-feet by 20-feet. Lessee will provide in-kind tower space for EMS communications.

Supporting material is available for public inspection during normal business hours on the 2nd floor of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough building in the Land Management Division. - DESHKA RIVER RECREATIONISTS –

LAND USE PERMITS for seasonal campsites along the Deshka River are available from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough’s Land & Resource Management Division.  Applications will be accepted beginning Friday, April 2, 2010 at 8:00 a.m., and will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The land use permits allow seasonal use of borough-owned land to commercial and non-commercial users throughout the summer months.

CAMPING PERMITS FOR DAILY & WEEKLY USE of the borough-owned land will be available in mid-May at the Deshka River Campground located at the mouth of the river.

Seasonal Land Use Permits are available to non-commercial and commercial users. Those wishing to set up a camp on borough-owned land for the summer season may make an application to do so. Applications may be made starting April 2, 2010 at 8:00 am and will be processed on a first-come-first-serve basis.
