The Fishhook Community Council area is currently governed by the general Matanuska-Susitna Borough Comprehensive Plan. In October 2012, the community began the process of crafting their own comprehensive plan. See article below.

Fishhook Community Comprehensive Planning Effort |

The Fishhook Comprehensive Planning Team met for the first time on February 12, 2013. Planning Team members work in the community council area to help identify areas of concern and make recommendations for the new comprehensive plan. The team will meet on the second Tuesday of each month for the foreseeable future.

The South Knik River Community Council requested assistance from the Borough in creating a Comprehensive Plan. A planning team was formed, and meetings have taken place to prepare a draft. The draft is now being reviewed by the Community Council.

Vision Statement
The Willow Area Community Comprehensive Plan is intended to provide for planned and orderly growth in the Willow Area while enhancing economic opportunities, respecting individual property rights, and preserving the area's scenic, recreational, rural, agricultural and residential qualities. The community will work together to respond to both the challenges and opportunities posed by future growth.
