A grand opening / ribbon cutting was held on January 11th, 2014. The building was enthusiastically received by all in attendance.
A recent grant and additional appropriation from the Borough Assembly will allow for upgrades to the facility for a commercial kitchen and fire sprinkler system in the building.
The building is approximately 4,000 square feet and functions as both a warming shelter for recreationists awaiting transportation and a place for community events.
Wolf Architecture was selected to design and Davis Constructors was awarded the contract to construct the Chalet which was was completed ahead of schedule in 2014.
Additional funding was received to complete a warming kitchen and fire suppression system. The contract to design and build this added work was awarded to Wirtanen Construction who teamed with Wolf Architecture, the original designer. A 65% design has been submitted and reviewed by Borough staff and the design process is progressing to the 95% level.
The total project budget is $1,200,000. Additional funding has been received from the Rasmuson Foundation and appropriated from the Borough Assembly.
