Matanuska-Susitna Borough

Government Peak Chalet

A grand opening / ribbon cutting was held on January 11th, 2014. The building was enthusiastically received by all in attendance.

A recent grant and additional appropriation from the Borough Assembly will allow for upgrades to the facility for a commercial kitchen and fire sprinkler system in the building.

Project Benefits

The building is approximately 4,000 square feet and functions as both a warming shelter for recreationists awaiting transportation and a place for community events.

Project Status

Wolf Architecture was selected to design the chalet. In an effort to expedite the design and construction process, a Contractor/Construction Manager was selected based on qualifications and experience, the award was approved by the Assembly on August 6th, 2013 to Davis Constructors to construct the Chalet. The chalet was completed ahead of schedule and was substantially complete as of January 7th, 2014.
