The Parks Highway Mile 92 Personal Use Firewood Area for mixed sawtimber and spruce sawlogs is available on a first come first served basis. Harvest is only allowed within the blue-flagged area marked on the ground and identified on the location map. A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri. at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. Permits may also be obtained at the Talkeetna Library 11am-6pm, Mon.-Sat. The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of six cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The cost of saw timber and/or house logs is $1.75 per lineal foot.

The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2013. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 745-9869 if you have any questions.
