Dozer Line Nearly Complete On Fire

The dozer line around the Horseshoe Lake Fire was nearly tied in as of 7 pm Sunday, according to Alaska Forestry's Norm McDonald. Several firefighters will be released tonight when the fireline is in place, McDonald said.

Swamps, Calmer Winds Slowing Horseshoe Fire

5 pm Sunday—What's now called the Horseshoe Lake Fire, a 25-acre fire, has run into swampy terrain and slowed some. Norm McDonald with Alaska Dept. of Forestry reports that a fireline built by dozers could surround the fire within an hour.

20 Plus Acre Fire Growing Off Millers Reach

4:12 pm, Sunday—A 20-plus-acre fire off the end of Millers Reach Road, in four-wheeler terrain, is moving east in dry conditions and steady winds. No homes are immediately threatened.
