EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER-- A representative with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (AKDEC)recommends boiling drinking water if your well is saturated with standing water. If your well casing has standing water around the pipe, it is highly recommended that you boil your water for 2 minutes at a rolling boil to eliminate possiblecontamination from ground water caused by recent heavy rainfall and flooding.

Lynn Loman, with AKDEC will be performing water testing in affected areas as early as tomorrow morning.

Reports of some local lodges include:

Montana Creek Campground totally flooded, the wells have been shut down.
Talkeetna: Two city wells are fine.
Deshka Lodge: Is surrounded by water.
Susitna Landing: Is surrounded by water.

Try to avoid using your septic if your house is surrounded by water. The septic could back up inside the house.
