Fire Ban On Borough Land, Fireworks Illegal

The burn ban on Matanuska-Susitna Borough public lands remains in effect. All open fires including campfires, bonfires, and trash fires are banned on Borough lands.
The State lifted its ban of campfires and more on private lands and more.

State Burn Closure Lifted For Mat-su

While campfires and approved burn barrels will now be permitted, a burn suspension prohibiting open debris burning does remain in place in some areas the closure has been rescinded. Check with your local Division of Forestry office for burn suspensions.

Sockeye Fire 96 Percent Contained

Fire is 96% contained. Management of the Sockeye Fire will transition from the Alaska Interagency Type 1 Incident Management Team to a Type 3 fire management organization on Saturday, June 27. About 80 firefighters will remain under the Type 3 organizatio

Fireworks are illegal. The State has banned all fireworks and the sale of fireworks in the Mat-Su Borough.
