Community Clean-up Program
Groups or individuals wanting to participate in Spring Clean-up need to fill out a Community Clean-up Application. This application is available for download HERE, or it can be picked up from the Central Landfill Community Clean-up Coordinator's Office, at the Central Landfill scale house, and all Transfer Stations.
With proper authorization, all collected items from Borough roadsides, public lands, and Borough right-of-ways will be accepted for disposal at no charge during your scheduled event. It is your responsibility to make sure all items have been disposed of properly. No items may be left outside of the dumpster.
Advertisements: The Borough will advertise a general schedule of all community clean-up events in the Frontiersman and on the Borough website and Facebook page.
Safety Gear: Groups need to let participants know they are required to provide their own personal protection and safety gear.
Trash Bags: Trash bags will be provided by the Community Clean-up Coordinator. You will be provided the authorization letter for your group’s free disposal of waste at the Central Landfill or a Transfer Station when you pick up your bags. ALL unused bags must be returned to Central Landfill or the nearest transfer site.
Dumpsters: Groups may request a dumpster for use during their community clean-up event. All groups may not receive a dumpster due to a limited supply. If you believe you will collect more than 25 truckloads of debris, please request more information on the dumpster program from the Community Clean-up Coordinator.
Waste Disposal: Groups must deliver collected waste to either their group dumpster, a Borough transfer site or the Central Landfill. You or your volunteers will need a copy of your authorization letter upon arriving to a Borough transfer site or the Central Landfill. You will be charged without this letter. Please provide authorization letter to the scale house or gate house attendant.
Securing Your Loads: All loads must be secured upon arrival to the Central Landfill or Transfer Station or be subject to a $12.00 unsecured load fee per vehicle per load.
Hazardous Waste and/or Prohibited Items: Call the Environmental Unit at 861-7604 for scheduled times or to set an appointment to dispose of universal or hazardous waste. These items include, but are not limited to:
- Batteries (NiCad, Lithium, etc.)
- Engine Oil
- Floor Wax
- Fuel Solvents
- Furniture Stripper
- Mining Chemicals
- Paint Thinner
- Paints or Stains
- Photography Chemicals
