Located in the rural community of Sutton, a drive to our facility is worth your time. We are located in the beautiful Matanuska Valley, along the Matanuska River. Breathtaking views of the mountains and river will be right out your car window!
The resource center is the place in our community where bright ideas begin. Our facility excels at providing resources and programs that enhance your life and broaden your horizons on a daily basis.
The library is open for checkout of materials and internet use.
Library hours are Tuesday-Friday 10AM-7PM and Saturday 11AM-4PM.
Patrons are encouraged to wear masks, maintain social distance, and only stay as long as it takes to obtain the services they need, with a maximum stay of 1 hour.
You can still check out library materials with curbside service.
We can not request items from other libraries at this time,
but if we have it here on our shelf, you are welcome to check it out.
If you have been sick or exposed to someone who is ill, please stay home.
If you or any of your contacts have traveled outside the state,
please wait the required 14 days before coming to see us.
Minor children may not be unattended in the library.
We know that these new rules do not allow for all the social aspects of our community space and we, like you, hope that doesn’t last very long. At this time however, our priority is to keep our patrons safe and healthy while providing necessary services.
We are excited to re-open and hope to see you at the library!
We will offer a Grab-n-Go style lunch and activity packets between the hours of 11AM and 3PM on Thursdays in June and July.
Here are the weekly themes for preschoolers and elementary aged kids at the Sutton Public Library for this summer.
June 4 – National Trails Day
June 11 – “Where the Wild Things Are”
June 18 – Celebrate Solstice Sun
June 25 – Salmon
July 2 - Big Equipment Rodeo
July 9 – Bug, Butterflies, Caterpillars
July 16 – Trees Are Nice
July 23 - Let’s Camp
July 30 – Dragon Fun
Programs will range from self-guided outdoor activities to open house style learning opportunities and include lots of art. We hope you encourage your children to participate in our summer fun. Come in to sign up and receive a book and your first packet of library fun.
As to be expected, this summer’s teen program will look a little different in accord with COVID-19 prevention guidelines. This summer’s teen program will be limited to a group number of twelve. The group will meet twice weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning
June 3rd from 10am-2pm.
Limiting group number will make this program possible while encouraging community interaction and prioritizing health and safety of teens and staff. Registering for the program will be a first come, first serve signup. Depending on the development of guidelines over these next few months, there will be the possibility of an end of the summer trip. We will update you all as soon as we know. That being said, we are still prepared for a fun summer! Just a glimpse into the next few months include: Tie-Dye, Gardening, Bike trips to Granite Creek, Yoga, and possibly a teen theatre production about our new Quarantine lifestyle.
Join us for a fun-filled summer!
