CHECK YOUR INSURANCE FIRST
All residents with homeowners insurance should check first with their insurance company. Most homeowners insurance covers the cost of debris removal after a fire and should be used for this purpose when available.
When insurance will not cover the cost of debris removal, the debris can be hauled by pick-up truck load to the Willow transfer station. All debris caused by the Sockeye Fire is being accepted at no cost at the Willow transfer station. This includes scorched or burned items, water damaged items caused by the fire response or spoiled foodstuffs lost because of the extended power outage. Also included are brush and trees cut as part of the fire response or killed by the fire and debris left behind by firefighters. Any other debris that was caused by the fire or the fire response is included.
Residents will be asked to fill out and sign a certification stating the debris was caused by the fire.

If demand does not support keeping the station open 7 days per week we will revert to normal hours, which are 9am to 5pm on Friday through Tuesday. Call the transfer station at 861-7615 for the most current hours. The transfer station address is: 15469 N Willow Station Road Willow AK.
ROAD RIGHT OF WAY NOT DROP-OFF FOR PRIVATE DEBRIS
The Borough is responsible to remove all publicly owned debris located in the public right-of-way, which typically extends 8 to 10 feet on either side of the driving surface of most residential roads. The Borough will engage a contractor to perform this task. The beginning and end dates of this work will be announced publicly as soon as they are available. Privately owned debris should not be placed in the public right-of-way. Please do not place the burden of removing privately owned debris on your neighbors or other Borough taxpayers.
