Districtwide Energy Upgrades (18 schools)

Scope

This project is expected to replace light fixtures, windows, door insulation, variable frequency motor drive controls, and modified computerized control systems as needed at the following schools:

Project Benefits

This project is to perform design of various energy upgrades at 18 different Borough schools. Upgrades may include window replacement, lighting system replacement as well as insulation or roof upgrades. Initial site assessments will include thermographic analyses at all 18 schools.

Project Status

This project includes lighting systems and window replacements at multiple schools. High efficiency LED lighting fixtures are now installed in 14 school gymnasiums. A window replacement project at Palmer Junior Middle, Houston Middle, Wasilla Middle and Wasilla High Schools was in fast-paced construction all summer. This project has now reached Substantial Completion at all four schools with many new efficient windows installed. Design and production of construction documents for window replacement at several box schools including Snowshoe, Pioneer Peak and Cottonwood Elementary Schools is currently being evaluated and processed.

Project Cost

The total project budget is $3,162,000. The State of Alaska will fund this project at a 70/30 split with the Borough.
