Emergency Power Generator & Switch Gear

Scope

This project is scoped to replace existing generator sets and switch gear with either a 200KW or 300KW set at the following schools as funding allows: Big Lake Elementary, Butte Elementary, Palmer High School, Snowshoe Elementary, Swanson Elementary, Palmer Junior High School, Wasilla Middle School, Willow Elementary, and the MSBSD Operations and Maintenance Facility.

Project Benefits

Generators will facilitate normal operations during outages during the school day and will support the building during emergencies.

Project Status

The project scope includes standby generators at Wasilla Middle School, Wasilla and Palmer High Schools Big Lake, Butte, Snowshoe, and Willow Elementary Schools, and the Operations & Maintenance building. The contractor is substantially complete at Butte, Big Lake, Willow, WMS and O&M. The emergency lighting has been connected to the existing generator at Swanson Elementary School. WHS was completed June 2017 and PHS was completed July 2017. Load testing and substantial completion visits were completed for PHS and WHS. Punch list items are being corrected with final completion expected in this month.

Project Cost

The total project budget is $2,145,000. The State of Alaska will fund this project at a 70/30 split with the Borough.
