The Susitna River Corridor Personal Use Area located west of the Parks Highway at approximately Mile 118. Access to this area is via the Parks Highway and an old logging road north of the Mile 118 Trail. Please comply with all trail restrictions when using any public trail. This area will be open for mixed saw timber on a first come first served basis beginning Monday, April 3th, 2017.

A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri. beginning Monday, April 4th, 2017 at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer; and at the Trapper Creek Library during normal business hours. Please contact the Trapper Creek Library at 861-7650 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Please be prepared to provide the year, make, model, and license number of all motorized vehicle(s) or trailers to be used while harvesting the timber when you go to get your permit.

The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of TEN cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The cost of saw timber is $1.75 per lineal foot.

The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2017. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7869 if you have any questions.
