This temporary Personal Use Firewood Area (PUFA) is for the utilization of Spruce timber killed by Spruce Bark Beetles to provide firewood to local residents and reduce the fire potential in the area.
No live standing timber may be cut during this harvest.
This PUFA consist of three units that are wholly contained with MSB Property within 200 feet either side of Oilwell Road and selected trails within the Chijuk Creek Natural Resource Management Area. A map of the area will be provided with your permit or may be obtained from MSB Land & Resource Management Division please call 907-861-7847 if you would like to request more information.
A permit is required and may be obtained from the Mat-Su Borough E-Commerce Webpage at https://ecommerce.matsugov.us/ (Please note that an e-mail and credit card are required to create an ecommerce account), at the Trapper Creek and Talkeetna Libraries, or at the Land & Resource Management Division located at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building; 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. Between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri.
The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site.
There will be no charge for the permit or wood removed and it will not count towards the maximum of TEN cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2020.
