The Gondor Road Personal Use Area will open Tuesday June 1, 2021, for harvest of spruce trees damaged by spruce bark beetles. The harvest area lies along Gondor Road near the intersection with W. Gondor Lane near Big Lake Alaska. The harvest area is marked with flagging and signs.
No live standing timber may be cut during this harvest. Only trees killed or damaged by Spruce Bark Beetles are allowed during this harvest.
A permit is required and may be obtained from the Mat-Su Borough E-Commerce webpage at https://ecommerce.matsugov.us (please note that an e-mail and credit card are required to create an ecommerce account), or at the Land & Resource Management Division office located at 350 E. Dahlia Ave., Palmer, between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri.
The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site.
There will be no charge for the permit or wood removed and it will not count towards the maximum of TEN cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2021. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7869 if you have any questions.
