The Parks Hwy MP MEA Clearing Personal Use Area is open for harvest of timber felled by the Matanuska Electrical Association or their designated representatives for the removal of hazard trees along the power line easement on MSB Property only. The harvest area lies between mile post 100 and mile post 132 of the Parks Hwy on Mat-Su Borough owned property only and is marked with signs and flagging tape.
No live standing timber may be cut during this harvest. Cut, stacked, or felled timber only is available on a first come first served basis during the harvest period.
A permit is required and may be obtained from the Mat-Su Borough E-Commerce Webpage at https://ecommerce.matsugov.us/ (Please note that an e-mail and credit card are required to create an ecommerce account), at the Trapper Creek and Talkeetna Libraries, or at the Land & Resource Management Division located at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building; 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. Between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri.
The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site.
There will be no charge for the permit or wood removed and it will not count towards the maximum of TEN cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2019. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7847 if you have any questions.
