Type: State Land Management Plan – Jonesville Public Use Area – Identify Issues to Address
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough (MSB), Land & Resource Management Division, is assisting the Community of Sutton and the State of Alaska with drafting a management plan for the recently created Jonesville Public Use Area (JPUA) (SoA Statutes 41.23.280 – 41.23.289). The designation of the public use area sets the stage for the management plan, which is in the process of being written. The management plan, once approved by the DNR Commissioner, will guide management actions and public use activities for the JPUA for the next 20 years. Please submit comments during this scoping period to identify issues and potential solutions within the JPUA and to convey your opinions on how the area should be managed consistent with applicable statutes and regulations. A survey is also being provided for the public to submit additional input at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Z7PRQP3. The goal is to improve visitors’ experience at the Jonesville Public Use Area and to protect what we all love about it. Three open houses to discuss the Jonesville Public Use Area and the intent of the management plan are scheduled for:
- February 4th, 2020, 6:30-8pm at Sutton Elementary School, 11672 Wright Way, Sutton, AK
- February 11th, 6:30-8pm at the Station 6-1, 101 W. Swanson Avenue, Wasilla, AK
- March 3rd, 6:30-8pm, Eagle River Town Center Meeting Room, 11924 Business Blvd, Eagle River, AK
