The Church Road Personal Use Firewood Area (PUFA) Phase 2 opens November 1st 2017. The Church Road Personal Use Firewood Area access is located off of Church Road just North of Seldon Road. Live standing Spruce saw timber greater than 9" diameter at breast height, live standing Birch saw timber greater than 11" diameter at breast height, and live Cottonwood of any size may be harvested during this offering. All dead down and dead standing timber may also be harvested.
Phase 2 of the Church Road PUFA permit area includes approximately twenty (20) Acres. Harvesting of timber in this area will remove fuel wood and increase forest health while providing a Personal Use Firewood Area within the Matanuska Susitna Borough Core Area.
A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri. beginning Wednesday, November 1st 2017 at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site and will allow harvest from both Phase 1 and 2 of the Church Road PUFA. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of 3 cords per household per year from this location with a total of 10 cords from all Matanuska Susitna Borough PUFA’s. The permit expires December 31, 2017.
This permit is non-transferable to other MSB permitted Personal Use Firewood Areas. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7869 prior to going in the permit area; or if you have any questions.
