Units #1, #2 and #3 of the Burnt Butte Personal Use Firewood Harvest Area opens January 27, 2017. Unit 1 is located east of the Plumley Maude Trail and south of McRoberts Creek. Unit 2 is located north of unit 1 and north of McRoberts Creek. Unit 3 is located north of unit 2 extending to Maude Road. This offering is for the harvest of dead down/standing timber resources only. Access and removal restrictions will be strictly enforced. Access is primarily by snow machines and ORV’s weighing less than 1500 pounds GVW. These areas are designated as personal use only for harvest of MSB forest resources.
A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri. beginning Thursday, January 27, 2017 at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer. The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of TEN cords per household per year from the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The permit expires December 31, 2017.
This permit is non-transferable to other MSB permitted Personal Use Firewood Areas. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7869 prior to going in the permit area; or if you have any questions.
