The Stringfield Road Personal Use Area is open for the utilization of Spruce Bark Beetle killed trees and other dead wood from the area as a part of a fuel reduction effort. Only Beetle killed spruce and dead down and dead standing timber may be harvested from this location. This area is limited to two (2) cords per household to allow more customers access to firewood within the core area.
Access and Parking are only authorized from the Stringfield Rd. PUE along the North edge of the cutting area.
No parking or cutting is allowed along Public Roads or at Pioneer Peak School.
A $25 permit is required and may be obtained from the Mat-Su Borough E-Commerce Webpage at https://ecommerce.matsugov.us/ or at the Land & Resource Management Division between the hours of 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri., at the Mat-Su Borough Administration Building, located at 350 E. Dahlia Avenue, Palmer.
The permit must be in your possession during the removal of wood from the site. The cost for each cord of wood is $25 with a maximum of TWO (2) cords per household per year from this location and a maximum of TEN (10) cords per household from any combination of locations. All cords must be purchased prior to harvesting.
The permit will expire after all available wood has been removed but no later than December 31, 2020. Please call the Land & Resource Management Division at 861-7863 if you have any questions.
