July 22, 2011 - LiDAR and Imagery Project Update

Over the last week, LiDAR acquisition has continued to be delayed due to weather conditions. As a result, the LiDAR portion of the project remains at 81% completed. Some progress was made on the imagery acquisition with 12 additional flight lines collected. We estimate the imagery portion of the project is around 90% completed. Acquisition will continue through July and possibly into August until completed. Aerometric is continuing to post process data for areas that have been collected.

Pilot Project
On July 18th, Aerometric delivered a small pilot project to the MSB. The pilot project is a 5 square mile area in the vicinity of Palmer. The level of detail in deliverables is astounding. MSB GIS staff is in the process of reviewing the data and will provide feedback to Aerometric.

The final elevation check point survey data has been delivered the MSB. These elevation points have been passed on to the scientists at the Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF) of the Geophysical Institute (GI) at UAF for use in the independent quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) process.
