Devilbiss_600dpiMAT-SU—Larry DeVilbiss will be sworn in as the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Mayor on Friday, Jan. 28. The Canvass Board released the final but still unofficial numbers in the mayoral race today. For the top two contenders: DeVilbiss 3,964 and Brian Sullivan 2,616.

The election will be certified by the Assembly on Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. in the Assembly chambers in Palmer. DeVilbiss will be sworn in three days later. Voter turnout for the mayoral special election was 11.94 percent even though a severe wind storm howled on election day. Some 5,950 people went to the polls, 901 absentee and special needs ballots were counted, and 263 questioned ballots were counted.
